<stat label="NRF Halloween forecast">$13.5B</stat>
 <delta>+36% group-costume searches</delta>

October 31, 2026 falls on a Saturday. That is the whole story if you post for a living. A Friday Halloween burns the peak into a work night. A Saturday gives the same clip Friday and Saturday, which is why group-costume searches jumped about 36 percent in a week and “trio costume ideas” has been logged around 4.8 million searches.

The formats already have audio. The Ramalama costume walk is a low camera, a slow approach, then a zoom-out that reveals the fit, cut to Róisín Murphy’s “Ramalama (Bang Bang).” The pumpkin-head illusion is simpler: hold the pumpkin on the lens so it reads as a head, then drop it. Jennifer’s Body costumes are back in the same conversation because the reference is one frame and a mouth.

NRF’s forecast for the season is a record $13.5 billion. A HalloweenCostumes.com survey this year had about 15 percent of people starting their planning on TikTok, so the costume is a search result before it is a purchase. If a product, a look, or a joke is not in costume language between now and November 1, it is speaking under the trend instead of inside it.

Do not wait for the 31st. The searchable week is this one and the next. Trios outperform a solo “what should I be” video because the comments cast the third friend. That is free distribution.

 <stat label="World Series opening">Oct 23</stat>
 <delta>Loud through the 31st</delta>

The World Series opens October 23, eight days before a Saturday Halloween. Sports TikTok does not go quiet for costumes. It gets louder, then shares the feed. That overlap is the posting problem for the last week of the month: two soundtracks, one For You page.

The move that is already working in October sports clips is not a take. It is a reaction cut to a highlight with almost no setup. Baseball rewards that even more than basketball does, because a single pitch is a complete story. You do not need the standings graphic.

If your usual post is beauty, food, or a product, do not fake a hot take about a bullpen. Use the night. A costume try-on with the game on in the room, the score mentioned once in the caption, the fit as the picture. You borrow the audience without pretending you cover the sport.

Post the setup on the 22nd. Post the room on the 23rd. Leave the 31st for the costume that already worked once.

 <stat label="#nba posts, Revid sample this week">+296%</stat>
 <delta>+296% #nba in one sample</delta>

This week’s NBA argument is a pairing. Clips putting LaMelo Ball next to Anthony Edwards, cut like they already share a Timberwolves floor, are what highlight accounts are pushing. YoTrends flagged it as an emerging sports cluster. Separately, Revid’s sample of popular posts had #nba as the fastest riser, up 296 percent on the week.

Treat the roster talk as talk. A viral edit is not a transaction announcement. If you caption it like a signing you cannot source, you will be the correction. The safe, still-shareable version is the question: would you want that pairing, and what does the clip already feel like.

Faces are the legal problem and the lazy choice. Arena light, a ball, two shapes, and a caption will outperform a stolen broadcast still that gets pulled down. The people arguing in comments do not need the jersey to be readable.

Saturday night is when basketball tags compound. If you are not an NBA account, one post is enough. Stacking three “reactions” in a day is how you teach the feed you are a fan page.

The finale of Matthieu Blazy’s Spring Summer 2027 Chanel show is sitting around 44.1 million TikTok views. Around it, the same week: Lacoste near 18 million, the New Balance x Miu Miu RC 150 near 15 million, Courrèges 12 million, Moncler’s Re/Icons about 12 million, Balmain about 12 million. Nicolas Ghesquière was the fastest-rising luxury topic on Submarine’s board, off a small base, with tens of millions of views across a few dozen posts.

None of that helps if your post is a slideshow of looks you do not own. The feed is rewarding a detail. A shoe. A chain. A shoulder. The RC 150 works because people can ask “what are those” and get an answer in one line. Mystery plus a name is a search.

You do not need a seat. Film one good object in hard daylight and say which show it is answering. “This is my version of the Miu Miu shoe” will outperform a muted front-row story you screen-recorded.

Street Fighter opens in theaters on October 16. The same week, Tekken 8 put Yujiro and Roger Jr. on an EVO France stage, and Godzilla Minus Zero’s second trailer is sitting on YouTube’s daily board. YoTrends’ US sample has gaming as the noisiest category by a mile: 767 rising videos in seven days, ahead of movies, music, and lifestyle.

The mistake is a trailer reaction with the trailer audio ducked under a face. That post lives until the claim hits. The post that keeps moving is a costume, a local cabinet, or a take that does not require the film’s picture. “I’m going Friday, this is the outfit, no spoilers in the comments” is a Halloween post and a movie post at once.

Fighting games and Halloween share a silhouette. If you already planned a costume, move it to Friday instead of waiting for the 31st. You get the opening-weekend audience and you can post the same shape again on the 31st with a different caption.

Godzilla is the adjacent loud thing, not the same post. One monster joke is enough. Do not stack a cinematic universe in the caption.

Kim Senser posted a 55-second video about MAC’s Film Noir Buff and called the mood anti-blush. The shade sold through at Sephora and Ulta. Trade write-ups say MAC later used her phrase in its own marketing. That is a complete 2026 beauty story: one creator, one name, one empty shelf.

Halloween is about to finish it. A cool matte face with almost no blush photographs as a costume even when the clothes are ordinary. You do not need the sold-out shade. You need the finish: less warmth, more contrast, a crop tight enough that skin texture is the picture.

Tutorials that open with a ten-product lineup are losing to a single before-and-after held for two seconds. Name the look in the first three words. “Anti-blush, but it’s a costume” will be understood by both audiences.

The dish moving through food TikTok this fall is not a clinical macro plate. It is cottage cheese with hot honey, sometimes chili, sometimes a “smash and scoop” bowl. Protein is being framed as comfort. That is a real shift from the meal-prep years, and it is why the videos get saved instead of merely watched.

YoTrends still has food-and-cooking among the rising US categories, on the order of 300 climbing videos in a week. That is not Halloween-big. It is steady, which is what you want if you post recipes for a living. A steady save beats a costume view you cannot repeat in November.

The frame that works is overhead, bowl filling the shot, honey still moving. A face explaining the recipe in the first second is how you lose the save. Ingredients go in the caption, in order, in one block. People keep the caption. They do not keep your intro.

Tie it to the month lightly. “Game-night bowl” on the 23rd will do more than a forced pumpkin. Do not dye it orange.

 <stat label="Patient Zero released, still under wedding clips">Sept 25</stat>
 <delta>Patient Zero still in edits</delta>

Late October has too many sounds and only four that are doing identifiable jobs. Róisín Murphy’s “Ramalama (Bang Bang)” is the costume walk. Ingrid Michaelson’s “Be OK” is the happy song over a chaotic caption. Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero,” out September 25, is still the bed under wedding and relationship edits three weeks later. In Revid’s sample this week, the sound used across the most of those popular posts was Blue Water Candy.

Pick the job, not the chart position. A wedding edit on Ramalama is a mismatch people feel in one second. A costume walk on Patient Zero makes both look like you grabbed whatever was saved. The desk rule: one sound, one job, changed when the job changes.

Original audio still wins if you are talking. Trending audio wins if you are not. The pumpkin drop, the honey pour, and the shoe turn should not have your voice on them. The NBA argument should, because the opinion is the post.

Check the sound the morning you post. October audio rots in days, not months. Patient Zero is the exception on this list, and even that will not survive November as a default.
